The Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions facility in Ashburn, Virginia specializes in development of high-performance processing solutions targeted at Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (ISR) applications. Some of the different products designed, developed, and tested at the facility include:
- Multi-processing Intel and Power Architecture (PPC) cards
- FPGA processing high-speed sensor interface (ADC, DAC, and digital) cards
- Application acceleration GPGPU cards
- High-Performance Embedded Computing (HPEC) tools, including the OpenHPEC Accelerator Suite system software
Custom, Application-Specific Solutions
The 33,000-square-foot facility in Ashburn has been operating since 1991 and employs 85 people, of whom almost 80 percent are engineers. Curtiss-Wright’s stringent quality procedures govern all activities at the Fairborn facility. The Ashburn facility delivers integration support for customers that need a custom, application-specific solution with a combination of Curtiss-Wright and third-party products. Curtiss-Wright’s Ottawa Center of Excellence in Canada is the primary manufacturing source for products designed and developed at the Ashburn facility. An additional US-based manufacturing source is also available for programs that require manufacturing in the United States.

The Ashburn facility provides leadership, strategy, and planning in developing and providing secure enabling technologies and capabilities for the deployed embedded computing COTS market. The TrustedCOTS Program is designed to address the protection of critical military technologies and data for our customers, on a worldwide basis.
