Curtiss-Wright Recognized by Mentor with 1st Place Technology Leadership Award for Military & Aerospace PCB Design

For excellence in advancing the design of Intel-based Single Board CPU mezzanine boards

ASHBURN, Va. – October 26, 2017 -- Curtiss-Wright’s Defense Solutions division today announced that it was awarded First Place in the category of Military & Aerospace design excellence by Mentor, a Siemens Business, at its 27th Annual PCB Technology Leadership Awards ceremony. Curtiss-Wright was recognized for its contributions towards advancing Intel-based Single Board CPU Mezzanine designs through its development of the XMC-121, a high-performance, 7th generation Intel Xeon “Kaby Lake” CPU processor mezzanine card. The accomplishment resulted from the Curtiss-Wright design team’s success in integrating an unprecedented level of functionality into an extremely compact PWB space, without compromising the highest levels of quality and reliability. The rugged XMC-121 module is designed to provide high-performance processing in size, weight, and power (SWaP)-limited applications deployed in harsh defense and aerospace environments.

“We are very proud to be recognized by Mentor with a first-place award for Technology Leadership in military and aerospace design,” said Lynn Bamford, Senior Vice President, and General Manager, Defense Solutions division. “We are especially proud also of our XMC-121 processor mezzanine card design team, Ashleye Soanes and Pascal Sauve, Luc Bouchard, and Stephen Reich, whose fine efforts and engineering expertise resulted in this notable honor.”
