Curtiss-Wright Announces New Balanced “Side-by-Side” Packaging Option for Data Acquisition Systems

New TTC-MDW family of miniature Data Acquisition Units (DAU)


ASHBURN, Va. – May 4, 2020 – Curtiss-Wright’s Defense Solutions division today announced that its Aerospace Instrumentation (AI) group, a trusted leading supplier of flight test instrumentation (FTI) system solutions, has expanded its TTC DAU product line with the launch of a new family of miniature DAUs that provide system designers with a balanced, square form-factor alternative to linear tower-style DAU designs. The new TTC-MDW DAU family is optimally designed for those FTI applications, such as hypersonic ordnance and rotorcraft that require a more compact, balanced solution. The first member of the family, the MDW-2020, is a miniature Double Wide Form Factor wideband data acquisition unit (DAU) designed to interface a variety of analog and digital sensors and encode those sources into a wideband PCM output data stream up to 20 Mbps. Measuring 5.5” W x 2.6” L x 3.8” H (140 x 66 x 97 mm) in an 8-module configuration, the MDW-2020 comes standard with a 50W power supply integrated into the base plate and can support from one to 14 modules. Power supplies are available in configurations optimized to support a wide variety of module combinations.

The off-the-shelf data acquisition modules used in the TTC-MDW family provide commonality and backward compatibility with Curtiss-Wright TTC MnACQ modules, eliminating the customer’s learning curve and protecting their prior investment. The MDW-2020 is ideal for use in air vehicle tests, certification or development, avionics DAU, and missile applications.

About the MDW-2020

The MDW-2020 can be configured with a wide range of sensors and transducers and can operate in standalone PCM Systems and Ethernet networked systems, dependent on the overhead and interface modules selected. The DAU’s primary internal communication bus, the “R-Bus” (Remote Bus), is used to transfer power, control, configuration, and data among the modules.
