Curtiss-Wright Debuts Support for LynxSecure Hypervisor Environment on its Intel-based SBC and SFF Systems
Expanded collaboration with Lynx Software Technologies brings secure hypervisor technology to rugged deployed modules and LRUs
ASHBURN, Va.– January 30, 2017 – Curtiss-Wright’s Defense Solutions division today announced support for the LynxSecure separation kernel hypervisor, a real-time secure virtualization platform capable of leveraging multicore CPU hardware virtualization features on Curtiss-Wright’s Intel-based single-board computer (SBC) and Parvus® DuraCOR® small form factor processor product families. The expanded collaboration between Curtiss-Wright and Lynx Software Technologies, Inc., a world leader in the embedded safety and security software market, enables customers to deploy Curtiss-Wright hardware with LynxSecure hypervisor technology to satisfy high assurance computing requirements in support of the NIST, NSA Common Criteria, and NERC CIP evaluation processes used to regulate military and industrial computing environments. The first Curtiss-Wright products pre-validated for LynxSecure support are the rugged DuraCOR 80-41 tactical mission computer subsystem and the VPX3-1257 3U OpenVPX SBC, both based on quad-core, Intel Core i7 processors.
Curtiss-Wright and Lynx Software Technologies anticipate the availability of additional pre-validated SBCs and subsystems in the near future. The use of LynxSecure on these hardware platforms speeds and eases the deployment of robust secure compute solutions, such as those requiring security capabilities for Red/Black separation and a Cross-Domain Guard in embedded network edge applications.
“We are very excited to extend our collaboration with Lynx Software Technologies by supporting their LynxSecure hypervisor-based secure operating environment on our rugged single board computers and small form factor mission computers,” said Lynn Bamford, Senior Vice President, and General Manager, Defense Solutions division. “Our customers are increasingly looking to virtualization to get the most of out their multi-core processing architectures, and LynxSecure delivers world-class hypervisor technology, enabling multiple types of operating systems to securely share a single physical hardware platform.”
“The combination of our LynxSecure technology with the rugged COTS hardware solutions from Curtiss-Wright offers a very compelling safety and security solution for tactical mission systems,” said Will Keegan, Chief Technology Officer at Lynx Software Technologies, “The pre-validation of the solution allows our customers to quickly start architecting and implementing their software applications, dramatically reducing their time to certification and deployment”
