Curtiss-Wright Establishes World’s #1 Data Acquisition Supplier for Commercial/Defense Applications

With the integration of electronics and Acra businesses, Curtiss-Wright forms the world’s leading provider of system-level flight test instrumentation solutions

EUROPEAN TEST AND TELEMETRY CONFERENCE (ETTC) 2017, TOULOUSE, France. (Booth #7-8) – JUNE 13, 2017 – Curtiss-Wright’s Defense Solutions division today announced that it has established the test and telemetry market’s leading supplier of data acquisition technologies for use in flight test instrumentation applications worldwide.  With the combination and integration of its ACRA business unit (based in Dublin, Ireland) with the recently acquired Teletronics Technology Corporation business unit (based in Newtown, Pennsylvania), Curtiss-Wright has formed the Industry’s broadest and most experienced single source for customers of commercial and defense aerospace instrumentation system solutions. With the merger of the two business units, Curtiss-Wright now supports more aerospace flight test customers, platforms, and programs than any other competitor around the world. What’s more, with its increased resources and global reach, the Company is able to significantly expand the availability of its unmatched quality and customer support, while bringing even larger system-level solutions to market.

Already offering the market’s broadest range of in-house designed system-level data acquisition products - including data acquisition units (DAU), gateways, transceivers, recorders, cameras, managers, and switches - the integration of these two business units and their resources further strengthens Curtiss-Wright’s continued focus on developing new products to meet its customers’ data acquisition requirements. Examples of new technologies resulting from the merger include the new NSW-16GT-1 optical 16-Port 10 Gigabit Airborne Network Switch (introduced at the Army Aviation Mission Solutions Summit in April 2017) and the ADSR-4003 Airborne Data Acquisition and Networked Instrumentation Recorder (introduced at ETTC 2017). The integration of these two leading aerospace instrumentation suppliers also provides more resources to accelerate the development of advanced technologies, such as the soon-to-ship next-generation Axon compact Flight Test DAU and a new family of 10-Gigabit data recorders.

“We are very proud to have established the aerospace industry’s #1 supplier of system-level data acquisition solutions through the integration of our Teletronics and ACRA business units,” said Lynn Bamford, Senior Vice President, and General Manager, Defense Solutions division. “Working together, these two businesses, with their combined resources, enable us to satisfy every commercial and military flight test application opportunity around the world, no matter what the platform, whether for testing aircraft, missiles, or space vehicles. What’s more, our increased strength will speed and support product development while enabling us to expand our reach into new emerging technologies.”
