Curtiss-Wright Showcases Next-Generation FTI System Solutions at ETTC 2019
Curtiss-Wright will highlight its COTS FTI approach with live technology demonstrations, technical papers, and broad range of industry-leading system solutions on display

EUROPEAN TEST AND TELEMETRY CONFERENCE (ETTC), TOULOUSE, France (Booth #12-16) – June 11, 2019 – Curtiss-Wright’s Defense Solutions division, a leading, trusted supplier of flight test and aerospace instrumentation system technology, will showcase its latest products at the European Test and Telemetry Conference 2019 (ETTC) in Toulouse, France, June 11-13.

Curtiss-Wright will highlight its latest hardware, including high-speed AxonTM DAUs, switches, data recorders, and rugged IP cameras. The products on display will provide FTI engineers with an overview of Curtiss-Wright’s ability to serve as a one-stop FTI system solution provider with the full range of interoperable data acquisition, recording, and transmitting products. Curtiss-Wright’s Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) approach to FTI system integration is ideal for meeting the design challenges unique to flight test programs, easing the adoption of modern Ethernet networks, remote nodes, and advanced topologies that make system installation simpler and quicker.

“For flight test engineers, one of the most daunting challenges is to define an FTI system that can be developed and installed quickly, can collect data reliably on every single test flight, and that provides the level of modularity and flexibility needed to easily adapt to evolving requirements, both during and after the development cycle,” said Lynn Bamford, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Defense Solutions division. “We are excited to showcase our COTS FTI approach at ETTC 2019, to show how easy and cost-effective it can be to speed the integration of test applications while lowering program costs and schedule risks.”

Technology Presentations

At the ETTC conference, Curtiss-Wright will also present three papers. On Tuesday, June 11, Mr. Russell Moore, will present “An introduction to IRIG 106-17 features and associated command” (Guillaumet 2 [email protected]). On Wednesday, June 12, Mr. Moore’s subject will be “Using photogrammetric analysis with high-speed cameras in-flight testing applications” (Guillaumet 1 Room @16.00). In addition, on June 12, Mr. Pat Quinn will present a paper on “Optimizing pre-flight checkout by leveraging IoT enabled FTI & augmented reality” (Guillaumet 1 Room @16.30).

Live Technology Demonstrations

In its booth (Booth #12-16), Curtiss-Wright will host a live demonstration of the Axon System, the industry’s most powerful and modern FTI solution, which combines unprecedented flexibility with outstanding reliability for demanding applications. There will also be a live demo of the new HDC-430-1 IP camera, the first rugged FTI HD video camera to support H.265 HEVC compression/decompression and 100/1000BASE-T Ethernet connectivity. This cost-effective HD Ethernet IP camera is designed for use in flight test, space test, and cockpit monitoring applications.

Axon System Demonstration

The Axon System live demo features an example of a fully integrated system with the latest technologies for FTI. Shown will be two Axon units, an Acra KAM-500 DAU and a 1000 BaseT Ethernet ADSR data recorder connected via a high-speed NSW-12GT 12 port switch.

HDC-430-1 IP Camera Demonstration

The new HDC-430-1 camera will be shown simultaneously connected to a 3G SDI display and an HD monitor. The demo will highlight the HDC-430-1’s ability to output multiple streams simultaneously (e.g., one high-quality stream for recording, another lower quality stream for transmission to a ground station), and its unique support (option) for h.265 compression, enabling the FTI test engineer to select higher image quality with fewer bits, or fewer bits for the same quality as other codecs.
