Vortex VR-185 6U VPX Data Recorder for sRIO

The VR-185 is a proven 6U VPX-based sRIO Data Recorder providing high data rate recording in I/O intensive applications. The VR-185 receives the sRIO data from the VPX backplane with demonstrated performance of 1100MB/s. That data is then streamed out to a storage device via fiber channel enabling it to be scaled to fit the applications requirements for capacity. The VR-185's on board Power Architecture runs the proven and robust Vortex Data Recording software. The Vortex Data Recording software interface is via web browser or XML-RPC API.

The Vortex VR-185 6U VITA 46 VPX recording engine includes two PMC/XMC sites which can support a wide variety of I/O such as sFPDP, Gigabit Ethernet, 10 GbE and analog I/O. The VR-185 Data Recorder is based upon the NXP (formerly Freescale) Power Architecture MPC8641 processor with up to 2Gbytes DDR II-266 SDRAM. The VR-185 6U VPX Data Recorder also incorporates on-board Serial RapidIO and PCIe interconnects with four of the sRIO or PCIe ports going to the backplane. The VR-185 recorder provides the high-performance data recording and long list of features and I/O interfaces to satisfy the most demanding requirements in today's data intensive applications.

Paired with the VR-185 data recording system, Curtiss-Wright Fibre Channel (FC) Storage solutions provide highly flexible, high performance storage which evolves to meet a variety of application needs. Based on a modular, building block design, these storage devices offer exceptional scalability. Leveraging the enhanced performance features of 2 or 4GB/s FC technology, the JBODs (Just a Bunch Of Disks), SBODs (Switched Bunch of Disks), RAIDs (Redundant Array of Independent Disks) and Solid State products deliver optimal data throughput and extremely high bandwidth for real-time data acquisition in any environment. Media options include solid state, rugged, semi-rugged, and commercial devices.
