Small OpenVPX systems consisting of just a couple of boards now solve application problems that less than a decade ago required large, power hungry, and expensive custom hardware. These small systems face the same challenge of managing, developing and optimizing multi-core CPUs as their larger siblings, but often with less memory space and no graphical interface.
