The KAD/ADC/128 provides a precision wideband accelerometer measurement capability to the Acra KAM-500 range of data acquisition products. The KAD/ADC/128 supports two tri-axial accelerometer sensors and provides two acceleration ranges per input, operating simultaneously, with 12 input channels in total. The module also provides excitation voltage to sensors.

At the heart of the KAD/ADC/128 is a hard-wired state machine that over-samples all channels at a rate of 16 ksps and digitally filters any noise above the user-programmable cut-off frequency. This is achieved using cascaded, half-band, Finite-Impulse-Response (FIR) filters with a default cut-off point set at one-quarter of the sampling frequency (fc = fs/4). All signals are sampled simultaneously. Thus, when several channels are sampled at different sampling rates, at the start of all acquisition cycle all channels are aligned.

The KAD/ADC/128 is ideal where highly accurate data is required, for example in space planes and in support of experiments taking place in micro-gravity environments. Like all standard KAM-500 modules, the KAD/ADC/128 can be used in the KAM/CSB/12U, a radiation-tolerant chassis that utilizes a Curtiss-Wright smart backplane to provide protection against the potentially harmful effects of ionizing radiation.
