The MDAU-1394 is a miniature bus data acquisition unit for capturing 3 channels of bulk and selected IEEE-1394b data.
Selected data can be captured at up to 40 Mbps and inserted into a PCM Format. This PCM Format can be multicasted over Ethernet and transmitted as a traditional clock/data PCM. Simultaneously, 100% of the 1394b data can be bulk captured and transmitted over the dual 1 GbE Ethernet ports as multicast packets. Ethernet data can be encoded using IRIG-106 Chapter 10/11, IRIG-106 TmNS Chapters 21-26, or DARv3 encapsulation. Additional status and performance information is also available for insertion into the PCM format or transmission over Ethernet.
The MDAU-1394 consists of the MHDM-394-1 module which perform the actual acquisition of the 1394 data, the MOVH-700-1 overhead processor/FPGA module set, and a 60 W power supply module.
In addition to operating as a standalone 1394 data acquisition device, the MHDM-394-1 module can also be used with any MnACQ-2700 data acquisition system. The MHDM-394-1 module occupies the high data rate (HDR) module slot directly above the MOVH-700-1 module. In this configuration, any of the over 200 standard MnACQ compatible modules can be used to capture selected data while the MHDM-394-1 captures bulk and selected IEEE-1394 data.
The selected data from the standard modules and the MHDM-394-1 can be combined into a shared PCM format. Up to 20 Mbps, the data can be mixed freely. From 20 Mbps to 40 Mbps, the data must be split 50/50 between standard module data and MHDM-394-1 data.
