High-speed data recorder for 12 x 10 Gigabit Ethernet inputs, 180 TB capacity, 3 hours record time.

The high-speed data recorder (HSDR-2512-1) is a two-unit product consisting of a recorder unit (hREC-1000-2) and memory unit (hREM1000-2). The hREM-1000-2 houses two removable media modules (hRMM-1090-X), that together provide 180 TB of storage across 12 SSD drives of 15 TB each. This is large enough to support 3 hours of recording time for 100% of the data from twelve (12) 10 GbE inputs and three (3) 2 Gbit Fiber-Channel inputs. Input data is received over the hREC-1000-2 optical input ports from a Curtiss-Wright Fiber Optic Switch (FOSW-2560-1).

The hREC-1000-2 is the recorder for the HSDR-2512-1. It has fifteen fiber optic inputs from the FOSW and processes input data to the hREM media unit using eight bidirectional fiber optic links.

The hREM-1000-2 can be installed in a location that is easily accessible, allowing for easy removal of the hRMMs after the mission. The hREC-1000-2 is installed in a location that is closest to the fiber optic data source, the FOSW-2560-1, to minimize cable data loss.

The hREC-1000-2 aggregates fifteen input ports from the FOSW and writes the data to the two hREM-1090-X cartridges. The maximum available write bandwidth is approximately 16.5 GBps.

The HSDR interfaces with 50/125 µm multi-mode fiber (MMF) to the FOSW, receiving and transmitting light at 850 nm wavelength (nominal). Each HSDR optical input port can operate at either a 2 Gbps or a 10 Gbps line rate. The connections to the hREM-1000-2 from the hREC use Firefly-based optical system interconnect links, both using MIL-DTL-38999 connectors.
