NXP Power Architecture Processing

The most widely used RISC architecture-based microprocessors for defense and aerospace applications

Today’s commercial embedded, aerospace, and defense industries rely heavily on modern technology solutions that cater to the power, size, and performance requirements needed for mission-critical systems. For over 20 years, NXP Power Architecture microprocessors have provided reliable, scalable processing options to suppliers of Single Board Computers (SBCs) used in embedded compute-intensive applications.

Data Protection with the NXP QorIQ Platform Trust Architecture

This paper presents an overview of the potential threats to an embedded system, and how the Trust Architecture can effectively defend against these threats.

Power Architecture Solutions from Curtiss-Wright

As an NXP Technology Partner, Curtiss-Wright works closely with NXP to select specific Power Architecture processors supported within NXP’s embedded technology group. These processors enjoy long life availability (over 15 years from product launch) and meet the high reliability requirements that Curtiss-Wright products demand for the long-term success of your programs.

Curtiss-Wright offers Power Architecture processing modules in 3U, 6U, and mezzanine form factors meeting open industry standards such as OpenVPX, VME, VPX and XMC. They are supported by a range of Operating Systems, Board Support Packages (BSPs), Shared Memory Drivers for high-speed board-to-board communications. Many of Curtiss-Wright's rugged mission computers incorporate Power Architecture processors.

The Curtiss-Wright Advantage

Our complete line of NXP-based COTS modules is engineered for rugged deployed SWaP-constrained platforms.

  • Architecting the complete COTS system solution: we support a wide variety of operating systems on our boards, complete with module drivers and middleware, designed to enable quick development
  • Pin-compatibility: we invest to enable technology insertion from generation to generation to offer you the latest technology with minimal risk
  • Modified COTS: we can take our COTS products and modify them to meet the needs of a particular program, saving you time and money while reducing your program risk
  • Safety and Security: we have several products designed to DO-254 and DO-178 standards, and our TrustedCOTS initiative ensures a high level of trusted computing

SWaP-Optimized for Rugged Deployed Platforms

Power Architecture processing modules from Curtiss-Wright combine multi-core processing capabilities, ECC protected memory subsystems, and high-speed I/O, all in embedded form factors. Curtiss-Wright’s innovative thermal management designs at the subsystem level have enabled us to reliably integrate Power Architecture processors across extended temperature ranges using advanced cooling methods, resulting in reliable and deterministic non-throttling performance even at high operational temperatures. This, combined with NXP’s long life, make Power Architecture attractive for those programs with a long deployment requirements.
