All-Weather/All-Condition 17.3" Touchscreen Mission Display is Designed for Air, Land or Sea Deployment

ASHBURN, Va. – December 05, 2023 – Curtiss-Wright’s Defense Solutions Division has announced the latest addition to its family of mission-critical rugged video system management (VMS) solutions for aerospace and defense applications with the introduction of the GVDU4310-000, an intelligent 17.3” touchscreen display designed to deliver optimal viewing in harsh conditions. Joining Curtiss-Wright’s extensive range of rugged size, weight and power (SWaP) optimized VMS components – including video displays, format converters, network switches and video recorders – the new display can be readily integrated into a complete VMS solution for use on ground, sea, and air platforms. The high-definition/high-brightness mission display combines the latest video display and touchscreen technology, including optically bonded glass and LED backlighting. Its rich set of features includes an embedded processor, external video input capability, and full touchscreen operation.

The GVDU4310-000 features an optically bonded PCAP touchscreen with multi-touch capability and single-touch operation when wet. The display provides 28 illuminated function keys, arranged along the border of the LCD screen, in accordance with the GVA specification DEF STAN-23-0. The LCD screen features a powerful 1000 cd/m2 backlight for sunlight readability, and when in night mode, the screen can be dimmed to 0.1 cd/m2 to avoid dazzle.

“Curtiss-Wright is committed to delivering industry leading fully integrated mission systems,” said Brian Perry, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Curtiss-Wright Defense Solutions Division. “Our high-brightness, glare-resistant 17.3” GVDU4310 touchscreen display represents decades of experience in designing truly rugged, innovative video components optimized to perform in harsh military conditions, 24-7.”

This fully ruggedized and sealed mission display, rated to Ingress Protection level IP67, addresses a wide variety of applications and is equally capable on ground, airborne, and naval platforms. It is impervious to water ingress from high-pressure hoses used to wash the interior of ground vehicles and equally at home on exposed naval vessels where persistent salt-water splash is typical.

Easily user configurable, the GVDU4310-000 can be quickly adapted via software to meet unique mission requirements. For example, users can define touchscreen activated “soft” keys within the display area to control external VMS elements and customer equipment.

The display’s external interfaces including Gigabit Ethernet (GbE), dual 3G-SDI inputs, USB 2.0, CAN bus and RS-232 serial interfaces, and GPIO. Designed for maximum flexibility, the unit supports a wide range of dual-image display formats, including full-screen, picture-in-picture, and side-by-side. The display operates from a single MIL-STD-1275E-compliant 28V power supply. A built-in automated heater ensures functionality in low-temperature conditions.
