High Definition Internal Avionics Camera
The CAMHD-C cockpit area camera is a high-definition (HD) color camera designed to support image capture within the aircraft cabin. Housed in a robust aluminum fairing the CAMHD-C camera is protected to operate within an aircraft.
Designed to be cabin or cockpit mounted, the CAMHS-C’s high definition 1080i imager provides simultaneous digital HD-SDI and Ethernet video output for interface to cockpit and cabin video systems. This camera outputs a fully user selectable video stream, with options to configure features such as
- GOP or Fps
- Protocol H.264, MPEG or MJPEG
- Specific blanking area on the sensor
Captured images are output via a 10/100Base-T Ethernet interface at four complete frames per second for ED-112A compliance. This supports aircraft incident analysis where aircraft Flight Recorder Systems are expanding to capture Cockpit Area Images to record in crash survivable memory arrays. The output is compatible with recorders such as Curtiss-Wright’s next-generation Fortress recorder that supports Airborne Image Recording.
Meeting Recommended, Likely, and Newly Introduced Recorder Regulations for Light Aircraft and Rotorcraft
Large airliners are required to have onboard flight data recorders to store data in a robust unit that can survive the typical effects of a crash. Not all aircraft are currently required to carry such a recorder, but this could soon change as several organizations are now recommending more aircraft types have a suitable solution. This white paper looks at the motivations behind introducing requirements for some form of flight recorders, what options are available, and discusses what may be the best choice.
